Christmas Quilt Number 2

Image
I spent several hours today out in my quilt room (my quilting "outhouse" because it's a separate building from the house) working on a second Christmas quilt top.  No.....I haven't quilted the first one yet.....haha.

I stitched the background blocks.

Sewing together the petals for the "Poinsettia Wreaths."
One of the wreaths pinned to the background and ready to machine applique with transparent thread around the outer petal edges.

I laid a center circle onto the wreath to see what it will look like.  I almost like the green background showing through better, but I think once all the wreath blocks are in place, it will take on a different look.

I will post more progress pictures in the next few days.  This is what I'm going for as a finished quilt top: The fabric I'm using is a little busier than what I used in EQ7 and the red isn't as pronounced, but I think it will turn out okay.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

It's Time For More Christmas Quilts!

Image
After hanging up the measly few Christmas quilts I have left, I decided it was high time to make more!  I seem to have given most of the ones I made away - gosh, it's funny how that happens all the time!

So, I got busy on my EQ7 and came up with some designs to start on.  The trouble with that is every time I start designing, I keep coming up with more and more designs so it makes it very hard to decide on just one.  Well, guess what.......I'm not stopping at one!

Okay, so I finally decided on a design and printed it off, chose my fabrics from my Christmas stash, and cut the pieces.

I decided to use my trusty Singer 401A for piecing.  I still go back to it time and again for this type of stitching.  It's one of my favorites :)

After stitching the blocks together for the first one, I played with the layout of the blocks and came up with four layouts I liked.
I liked all of them, but after asking for comments on Facebook and Instagram, and looking at each one many, many tim…

Weekend Local Christmas Bazaar

Image
Whew......I'm still tired!  I had a wonderful 3-day weekend at the local Town & Country Christmas Bazaar.  I got to see so many familiar faces there and had lots of good visiting with them.  There were over 200 vendors selling their handmade products.  There were wood carvings, candles, soaps, quilted & knitted items, jewelry (one of my favorites!!), alpaca fleece products, sewn items, leather products, knives, food (cookies, candies, pies and more) and many, many other things.  Of course, there were quilted things too.

This is an annual event I have come to enjoy very much.  Everyone, vendors and customers alike, are always full of the Christmas spirit.  Here is a picture of my space.

Around The World Blog Hop - I've Been Tagged!

Image
I was tagged by Martha who has a blog called Quilt To The Edge.  Martha belongs to the same local quilt guild that I do and also rides motorcycles.  The difference is that she rides with her husband and I ride solo, but we both enjoy riding.

Martha did let me know ahead of time that she wanted to tag me for this Around The World Blog Hop and I agreed to do it.   I have to answer four questions:

1.  What am I currently working on?
2.  How does my work differ from others of its genre?
3.  Why do I write/create what I do?
4.  How does my writing/creative process work?

To see what others who are participating in this blog hop have written, track back to Martha's blog, the the ones she noted in her blog, and so on.

Well, here goes!

1.  What am I currently working on?  Right now, I'm trying to get many things ready to sell at a local Christmas bazaar next weekend as part of my business.  One of the things I'm working on today is putting borders on several "orphan" blo…
